Discovering the narrative Delta tradition provides a breath of fresh air as compared to the overladen, lengthy story in the Iliad. Apart from discovering a separate oral tradition, we can even distinguish no less than three separate fairy tales in the Iliad, with separate themes, plot twists, characters, and motives. The anger of Achilleus is just one of these themes. The three fairy tales are:
- The anger of Achilleus (p. 43 – p. 67)
- The abduction of Helen (p. 74 – p. 105)
- The compassion of Achilleus (p. 114 – p. 136)
The narrative Delta-tradition and the fairy tales are not originally Greek, but they stem most probably from Central Europe, or at least from Bronze Age Europe to the north of Greece, just like the European Beta tradition.
